The Reebok Bristol Half Marathon is one of the UK’s leading road races, awarded Gold Grade status by BARR in recognition of the highest standards of organisation. The race is now one of the biggest half marathons in the country, and with title sponsors Reebok on board for a further two years, the race is set to develop still further.

The race has grown in popularity since it started with just one thousand runners in 1989, to over ten times that size in 2005, with 12,000 places filling in a record ten weeks.  Due to the huge demand for places, the course has been amended to increase capacity and is now capable of taking 15,000 entries.

The attractive, sea-level course takes in the old city, scenic harbourside and the stunning Avon Gorge and offers great potential for fast times and personal bests.

The Fundraising

Each runner has committed to raising a minimum of £150, which should raise a fantastic £4500 for Williams Star Tribute Fund.

As usual, all funds raised go to The Grand Appeal. This year, the target is £100,000 for a new medical Ward to help children with complex medical needs in the Bristol Children's Hospital. Medical conditions treated include cystic fibrosis, rheumatological arthritis and diabetes, as well as patients with highly infectious illnesses that need to be cared for in isolation. Designed from a child's perspective, the ward will use art to directly aid patient treatment and recovery, providing a vibrant and comforting environment that includes an outside garden, a private rest area for families and 20 individual en suite bedrooms for patients where parents can comfortably stay with their children.
